Project PRR 475532 F30d
This
all-one-piece cast steel car was built in June 1951.
Conrail recently scrapped a similar
flat car that had been languishing near the old Lehigh Valley yard
in South Plainfield, New Jersey. It was said to be one of the last
few known to exist.
Hearing about the scrapping reminded
me of a conversation from two years earlier about an old Pennsy
flat car kicking around Cleveland. I contacted Jon at Horizon Rail
and asked if the car were still around. Lo and behold, it was.
