This car originally had a wood interior. However, at some point the wood was removed and sheetmetal was welded to the interior about 4' up from the bottom.

There was also a significant amount of piping installed for shelving to store materials. All of this needed to come out for two reasons. The first was to gain access to repair some of the rust holes and the second to restore it back to it's original interior.

In the photos below you can see the faint outline of the original wood stringers that the wood interior was attached to.
