Shortly after the auction last October, arrangements were made to have the second floor of the gondola cut off, to make it easier to transport the car.

Well, my friend Nick D'Amore, who put me on to this car and helped set up to removal of the upper deck, sent me this photo, saying there had been a minor
misunderstanding!

Needless to say, it was all in good fun; the second story had indeed been removed. Then, once all the snow was gone and the other railcars were trucked out of Marienville, it was my turn to come get the gondola.

Frank Tartaglia Railroad Services sent their 53-foot tilt deck to Marienville to pick up this PRR classic. They also sent their best driver, Al, who made the loading and unloading look easy.

After the 350 mile journey to New Jersey -- and it's safe to say that this car never traveled this fast during its revenue service lifetime --the gondola was safely unloaded at my shop in Ringoes.
